Supported Living Program
Advocates of Alvord-Taylor's Independent Living Program work cooperatively with developmentally disabled adults who live independently in the community. Services are tailored to meet individual's particular needs, from personal health management to accessing community resources and abilities, while respecting and accommodating their lifestyles.
Over the last year the program has grown, taking on new challenges in the pursuit of our mission.
Independent Living Program offers support with:
- Budgeting money for rent, utilities, activities, and spending.
- Assisting with visits to the doctor and the dentist.
- Following medication orders.
- Household maintenance & upkeep.
- Maintaining good hygiene.
- Learning safety skills at home and in the community.
- Food shopping and meal planning.
- Coordinating safe and affordable housing.
- Accessing other service agencies.
- Paperwork from state and social service agencies.
- Establishing and maintaining entitlements.
- Using transportation services.
- Assistance with social activities.
- Building social relationships.
- Coordinating crisis support and counseling services.
- Access to Alvord-Taylor's 24-hour emergency support.
- Becoming part of the community.
