Employee Training Program

Training Calendar | Training Enrollment

Alvord-Taylor provides extensive training to all employees both at the point of hire and as part of ongoing skill development. Our goal is to help each employee identify their talents and encourage the acquisition of new skills.


Each new employee is provided with a minimum 40 hours of classroom instruction that includes:

  • Mandatory Abuse Reporting - 1 year certification
  • Blood Borne Pathogens/Universal Precautions - 1 year certification
  • Oregon Intervention System - 2 year certification
  • American Heart Associatioin CPR and First Aid - 2 year certification
  • General Health and Safety - 2 year certification
  • Individual Support Planning for Direct Support Professionals - 2 year certification
  • Medication Safety - 2 year certification
  • Positive Behavior Support - 2 year certification
  • Therap Basics - 2 year certification

 

In addition, each new employee receives a minimum of 120 hours of on-site training to complete demonstration and certification of the following Core Competencies:

  1. Before Working without an Experienced Co-Worker - within 21 days of employment
  2. Program Specific - within 30 days of employment
  3. 30-Day - within 30 days of employment
  4. 90-Day - within 90 days of employment

 

Along with trainings offered internally, the agency also participates in the Cascade Training Co-Operative, which consists of other local service organizations working together to coordinate training for professionals working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
